2012 Primetime Emmy Highlights: Jimmy Kimmel, Tracy Morgan Passes Out

The opening video sketch involved some of the funniest women in television including Mindy Kaling, Ellen DeGeneres and Julia Louis Dreyfuss in the women's bathroom, to introduce this year's host, the very funny Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel wasted no time getting to topical jokes in the first 15 mins of the show, taking jabs at both Mitt Romney and president Obama. Talk about cutting to the chase! The first win of the night went to Modern family's Eric Stonestreet for best supporting actor in a comedy. Stonestreet gave an inspiring speech thanking his castmates and giving advice to all of those aspiring actors out there, encouraging them to follow their dreams. And the award for most awkward moment goes to family guy's Seth MacFarlane who went to the wrong microphone as he presented the award for best reality tv host. Luckily he made a quick save, and apologized in a Stewie voice, saying, "this is what happens when you don't come to rehersal." Nice one. We were happy to see Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad claim the award for best supporting actor in a drama, capping his acceptance speech off by thanking the writers for not "killing him off." In a controversial move, Jimmy Kimmel tries to punk the audience by trying to start a rumor that Tracy Morgan passed out on stage, perplexing the audience and internet alike. Although some thought the stunt was in poor taste, it blew up twitter with 25-thousand instant tweets. Tonight was a big night for Jon Stewart and The Daily Show who claimed the emmy for best variety music or comedy special...For th3 10th year in a row, proving that they really are unstoppable. New drama Homeland also made a splash this year as they knocked out incumbent Mad Men for best drama series. Modern Family was also a big winner of the night, as they won best comedy series for the third year in a row. Congratulations! What was your favorite moment of the night?
