Pastoral care is an integral component of Christian life and ministry. When it's done well, it can make a vast and positive difference. When it's done poorly and/or is missing, there are often sad consequences. This five-week course explores a number of key foundational components of pastoral care (Jesus' role in care, how to be present to people in a range of settings, the art of good listening and self-care), as well as a number of situations that are common to pastoral care. The course offers space for people to learn about the theory, practice and possibilities of pastoral care in a safe and positive fashion.
The topics covered include:
• Pastoral care foundations: Part 1
• Pastoral care foundations: Part 2
• Celebrating well; grieving well; visiting well; staying well
• Obstacles, choices, decisions and finding God's will
